Buildering ... experience a Fresh View
20 July, 10am - 6pm Pollard Thomas Edwards architects
Diespeker Wharf 38 Graham Street London, N1 8JX

Gripping the face of the 90ft chimney you can almost taste the brickwork of the old Victorian timber mill at Diespeker Wharf.
To get up here, you have scaled the ‘monkey bridge’ to the loading bay window ledge and scrambled across the rope net high above the cobbled courtyard. Few see the view from this height across the Regent’s Canal and the newly developed City Road Basin towards the skyline of central London.
Pollard Thomas Edwards architects (PTEa) in collaboration with The Castle Climbing Centre and engineers Price & Myers are creating a unique climbing event to scale their office building and gain a ‘fresh view’ of the built landscape. This tactile experience, elevated from our usual viewing position, challenges our understanding of architecture and cityscape.
The event will run on 20 July from 10am until 6pm with limited tickets available each hour.
This exciting 30-minute journey has been planned and will be facilitated by highly skilled and trained climbing instructors from The Castle Climbing Centre. Participation in this ‘buildering’ event is subject to height (above 1.4m) and age restrictions (9 years and up - under 18s must have a parent/guardian present) for safety reasons and each participant will have to sign a participation form.
In addition, PTEa offers children the exciting opportunity to climb the low bouldering wall erected in the canalside garden.
Food and refreshments will be provided throughout the day by local gastro pub ‘The Charles Lamb'.
Participants should wear non-restrictive clothing and trainers, hiking boots or similar (no flip-flops or high heels).
Please note that the event may be cancelled at any time due to bad weather or for health and safety reasons. Instructors reserve the right to refuse participants at any stage in the interests of their own safety.
